We Are Thinsolutions…..Meet Chris Abbott

September 23, 2010

Chris Abbott claims to have spent most of his childhood summers grounded for one reason or another, although he does not really remember why he was being punished. “Sometimes I think my mother just wanted help with the yard work.”

He has always had an interest in computers.  “ I worked 2 jobs, averaging 20 hours a day,  only sleeping every third day for 2 months to buy my first computer .  It cost over $1,000 15 year ago.   I used to call my dad when I messed it up but then it got to a point where he couldn’t help me anymore and I had to figure it out myself. I learned then that I had a knack for it.  Now I have an Associate’s degree in Information Technology/Computer Network Systems, and I am a Microsoft Certified Professional and a Certified ShoreTel installer.”

Chris has worked in the industry for 4 years and has been a part of the Cleveland IT Consulting Services  Group at Thinsolutions for about a year.  “I like being able to solve problems. The problems are always different so it never gets repetitive, and you always learn something from each one.  I like to be challenged and in this field there is no shortage of that.”

When not helping our clients with their IT challenges, Chris enjoys camping, fishing and going to Indians games.  Until recently most of his free time was spent with Monica and their 5 month old Boxer puppy, Turk.  All that changed on September 4th though, when Chase Michael Abbott entered the world .  Now Chris spends most of his free time learning to be a Dad!

We Are Thinsolutions…Meet Jesse Wells

September 12, 2010

My name is Jesse Wells. I have been with Thinsolutions for 6 years. I have been married for 15 years to my high school sweetheart. We have three great boys who are all interested in sports. I have a 13, 10 and a 5 year old. I was in the military for 6 years where I worked in the hospital as a medical lab tech. While working there, I got a feel for computers and I really enjoyed working and fixing our computers that we used in the lab. Because of that, I pursued a degree in computer science from the University of Phoenix. We were stationed in Tucson, AZ for most of my tour in the Air Force. When my tour was over, my wife and I decided to move back home to Ohio. We both feel that family is important and it has been great watching our children grow up near both sets of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. My other passion is traveling. I have been very lucky that I have been given the opportunity to visit many islands. I enjoy the ocean and love to get out and snorkel as much as I can.

We are Thinsolutions…..Meet Brandon Bergum

September 2, 2010

Brandon Bergum’s first job was at Wyandot Lake making funnel cakes. He was quickly transferred to an easier job at the candy shop, however, when the funnel cake lines consistently extended past the bumper cars. While he acknowledges that he was not the fastest at funnel cakes, Brandon is still amazed by how crazy people get about their funnel cakes.

Following graduation from Kent State with a Finance major, Brandon sought both finance and technology jobs. His first offer was a technical consulting position and he has never looked back. A lot has happened since learning to cut and paste on his first day on the job.

Brandon has now been with Thinsolutions for seven years and in the technology industry for twelve years. In his role as Manager of IT Consulting Services for the Cleveland area, he especially enjoys the wide variety of customers and technology with whom he works on a daily basis. Every day is something different and an opportunity to lean new things.

Brandon lives in the Akron area with his wife Andrea and their two young boys, Nicholas and Christopher. In addition to chasing his sons, his hobbies include golf, playing basketball and other outdoor activities. He believes his greatest accomplishment is his family and he takes great pride in watching them grow every day.

We are Thinsolutions…Meet Kevin Fischer

August 20, 2010

Kevin Fischer has been with Thinsolutions as long as there has been a Thinsolutions—13 years  Shortly after the company was formed, Kevin joined the staff  to handle administrative responsibilities.  As the company has grown his role has also evolved.  Today Kevin’s primary responsibilities are in researching and purchasing equipment and software for our clients and managing our invoicing process.   He also handles payroll duties, which makes him very popular among his colleagues!

Kevin was actually born in Lakewood, Ohio and spent many years living not far from where our offices stand today.   He has 5 brothers and sisters, the youngest of whom is his brother and his CEO, Mike.  He still lives very near the offices although he has (finally) migrated out of Lakewood.  He has been married for 5 years.   Kevin & Amy have two children, Sam, 15, and Quinn who is 3.

When we asked him to tell us about some memorable moments, Kevin provided the following:

  • Making my Dad promise to buy me a bike if I went off the high dive for the 1st time.
  • Family camping and road trips in the station wagon, where the rear bench seat faced backwards.
  • Alpha Tau Omega hell week in college (No details, so as not to alert the authorities!)
  • Little Siblings Weekend at college (No details, so as not to alert the authorities and/or embarrass the CEO)
  • My wedding day June 10th, 2005.
  • Watching my daughter being  born and actually helping in the birthing process…I think I helped anyway!

Kevin’s philosophy is “work hard and live life everyday”, a viewpoint he has carried with him since he witnessed a fatal car accident as a kid.   His hobbies include biking, jogging, basketball, golf, crossword puzzles.  He enjoys vacationing in Grand Cayman, Ocho Rios, Cozumel, Marco Island and Myrtle Beach.   He tells us that one thing about him no one would guess it that he completed a half marathon in under 2 hours (“With my body type, people seriously think I’m joking when it comes up in conversation”!).  His favorite time of day is evening, when he is putting his daughter to bed—“ she has the most amazing comments on her day”.

We are Thinsolutions…Meet Luke Neuman

August 12, 2010

Hi, I’m Luke Neuman, an IT Consultant working out of Thinsolutions’ Fort Lauderdale office, a fact that makes a lot of my colleagues envious—particularly in February.  Prior to joining Thinsolutions I worked with Nathaniel Fisher at his company, Fidelity Networks.  When Fidelity was acquired by Thinsolutions in February, 2007, I was more or less part of the acquisition!   The IT industry is fast-paced and challenging, which is one reason I like my job-everyday I learn something new!  I also enjoy meeting and interacting with the many people I meet during my visits to client’s offices

My wife, Holly & I have been married for 5 years but we first met when we were both 7 years old. We have two children, William (3) and Anna (1) who keep us pretty busy but who also make it a joy to return from work at the end of the day.  As a family we enjoy taking the kids to the park and going on family walks.   Of course we also enjoy dropping the kids off to visit their grandparents on occasion.

I was born in Fort Lauderdale and I’ve lived in South Florida for my whole life.  Although the heat in the summer can be intense I’ve grown used to the weather and would not trade it for a colder climate. We live in Boca Raton, about 12 miles from Fort Lauderdale.  I’m president of the board of our home owner’s association, which requires a significant amount of my time, but it’s also a way to help those around me while ensuring that the quality of the community my family lives in is maintained.

I enjoy following sports, especially Florida State Seminoles football.  I am also looking forward to a good year for the Miami Heat.  I do feel bad that it’s at the expense of Cleveland, but I’m still looking forward to a great year of basketball!

We are Thinsolutions…Meet Stefanie Avery

August 5, 2010

Stefanie Avery is one of Thinsolutions’ newest additions, having joined the company with the acquisition of CBIZ Network Solutions in March, but she has been involved with the technology industry for over 3 years.  Stefanie , who admits to total confusion over the many remotes in her home, never imagined she would be working for a technology company.  However, she has mastered the language of  the industry and can now talk server and switch configurations with ease.  With a Business Management Degree from Mount Union College, and a background in administration, accounting and procurement, Stefanie has been a warmly received addition to our Administration group.  Now if we could only convince her to work full time….!

The primary reason for her part-time status is her 15 month old daughter Madison, the pride and joy of Stefanie and her husband, Mark.  We’re  not certain what free time she might have, but Stefanie tells us: “In my spare time (after I have taken all those long walks on the beach and eaten dinner by candlelight) I enjoy spending time with my family, participating in water sports  such as  fishing, boating and jet skiing,  recreational softball,  and exploring new vacations destinations.  My favorite vacation memories include zip lining in Hawaii, experiencing the different cultures of Spain, France, and Italy on a Mediterranean cruise, enjoying the beautiful beaches of Bermuda and the crazy nights on the Kukoo Kunuko party bus in Aruba.  Needless to say I like to play as hard as I work!”

We’re delighted to have Stefanie as part of the Thinsolutions team and look forward to the day Madison starts school so we can add to her workload!
